We are back from our holidays and apart from three 70's glass and holders, I have come back empty handed. We passed lots of car boots, but I fear it may have tipped the kids over the edge if i'd dragged them round! So above are a few snapshots and blogging will commence shortly.
Schools out, so we are off on holiday and I won't be able to blog for a week. Hopefully I'll be able to bring you some exciting stuff i've found on my travels! But to keep you going here is the amazingly talented JOJO Nouveau. Beautifully, handcrafted embellishment to clothing and accessories. It can be found at 'Pink Pigeon' a fantastic vintage shop in Leicester. (See below)
There is also a dedicated facebook page, just search JOJO Nouveau. Plus Pink Pigeon also shows JOJO products on their facebook page. But for an introduction I have selected a few items below just perfect for this Spring Summer season:
The Misadventures of Gaspard and Lisa By Anne Gutman & Georg Hallensleben are gorgeous childrens books. I started buying them in various languages, (depending on where I was in the world) for my son when I was travelling with work. Really quirky, naive, painted illustrations.
Then I came across Penelope, the same author & illustrator. Again really lovely, dinstinctive illustations and now showing as an animation on Ceebies.
One of my favourite brands was Oilily. I found it a constant source of inspiration when designing childrenswear. I loved the ethos behind the company as well as the fearless use of colour / print. It was really hard to see it loose its way. However, it has closed, regrouped and the Autumn Winter 2011 Range is back to it best. I love it! Glad to have you back Oilily.
Although I know it is important to look at all the catwalk shows for trends etc, I usually find more inspiring, interesting pieces from different sources such as etsy. There are so many talented people offering different, vintage inspired items. Here is an etsy sight I found that offer gorgeous, retro styled dresses.....Faithworks 4U
I was introduced to Belle & Boo via a range of postcards sold in Paperchase. I bought them all for my girls bedroom! Nostalgic childhood illustration in soft dreamy colours. There is a whole array of products available, even a clothing range. See the AW11 range below:
I love the illustrations and some of the vintage inspired dresses are quite cute, but I prefer something with a little edge! Here are some of my favourite courtesy of http://www.belleandboo.blogspot.com/
After researching for a couple of weddings I came across the most inspirational blog '100 Layer Cake' and even though i've no need to look for wedding inspiration now I still find it is a complusary weekly read. The photography is beautiful and the ideas are just fabulous. You can take elements and use them for any celebration. Their latest summer inspiration is a Jazz Age lawn Party. Something very close to my own heart, unfortunately I fear most the men in my life would rather do anything else instead of wearing a bow tie & boater! Still I can dream that maybe one day.........
