Vintage Kids Illustration

I picked this book up a few years ago from the charity shop and I just love the illustrations.  Described as 12 colourful adventures with Sarah, Nick and Peter.  Its an English language Edition, but was printed in Czechoslovakia so whether or not that is where it is originally from i'm not sure.

Dreaming of a studio / sewing room

After many years of being in a terrace house, all I really wanted was a hall and a garden.  Now after a couple of years having these things I love for a studio / sewing room.  There is little chance, but a girl can dream!

Saltwater Sandals

Saltwater sandals are a cult American brand that have launched their childrens  brand in the UK, this S/S11.  The sandals come in a range of styles and colours.  They are absolutely adorable......I love them!  They are extremely functional and as the name suggests resistant to saltwater, therefore, are perfect for paddling in the sea!  Have a peak at the look book, I guarentee you will want a pair for your child!  And guess what?  Yep they come in adult sizes too!

Gorgeous Font & tattoo

Always on the hunt for tattoo designs, I came across this blog http://rodeo.net/tattoologist/ and just loved the font and general design of this tattoo.

Soha World

No one does kidswear like Japan. It is quirky, cool, practical, colourful and really distinctive.  I've been following Japanese street fashion for many years and it has been an influence on British street fashion, especially amongst sub-cultures.  Images i've collected over the years just don't date and are just as relevant/ forward thinking today as they were several years ago.  I think it is because it is playful and off the wall you can never tire of it.  Exactly how childhood should be!  I've come across this brand  SohaWorld, it doen't really explain where it is based, but it definitely looks Japanese.  Absolutely gorgeous dresses teamed up with long socks and baseball boots.  The boyswear is uber cool, casual tees and jeans.  Lots of brands struggle with boyswear.  Its very easy to do girlswear and find a specific niche, boys is a lot harder.  Infact, half the problem is that brands / retailers try too hard.  Simplicity is often the key.  Check out Dilly's favourite outfits below.

Lots of layering, bows, collar details, button interest and lace trims.  Vintage accents, quirky play on adultwear.....Brilliant!

Jane Foster

I love Jane Foster's prints and dolls.  I have a few of her cloth kit dolls for my girls and the sausage dog print.  She is currently doing a buy 1 get 1 free on her prints and cushions, a real bargin!  However, she has excelled herself with these new prints for Art Group.  I love the Paris one.  Obviously having a Parisian obsession anyway this ticks all the boxes.

Vintage kids book collection & illustrations

I love to find old kids books and toys.  The books just have great colours and illustrations.  Here is a selection of some favourites!

These illustrations are by Lynne Grundy and are in a Dick Bruna style.  Really simple and colourful.

Although these learning books are not my favourite illustrations, I love the fact they document my childhood.  Just check out buying new shoes!

FAUX FUR HOODS

I predict the faux fur hood with ears, scarf & mittens as worn by Fearne Cotton at Radio 1's One big Weekend will be everywhere this winter.  Moving on from the knitted animal beanie of AW10.  Animal characters have been identified as a trend this AW11 season and are always popular amongst childrenswear.  I think this kind of style is not only cute and quirky, but also rather practical!

Fur is also a big trend for AW11, real and faux.  so expect to see it on trims, accessories and full garments.  Monnalisa have accessorized their outfits with oversized earmuffs and yeti boots.  This also ticks the box for the polar influence.  Tartan, metallics, sequins are also trends within this season.  Nothing new there really as this seems to be popular most Christmas's!
